UM4GI
– A Cooperative Parish
Our congregation has officially joined with Faith and First
United Methodist Churches of Grand Island to form a cooperative parish.
The most recent step is to have clergy appointed to UM4GI as well as to
individual congregations. Even though pastors will continue to be
appointed to and be paid by one of the congregations, they will work cooperatively
to provide leadership and pastoral care within the churches and to the larger
community.
At
the end of the Annual Conference Session in Lincoln,
these four pastors were appointed to the cooperative parish as well as each
being appointed to a local church:
FAITH UMC – Rev. Matthew Fowler
FIRST UMC – Rev. Chad Boling
TRINITY UMC – Rev. Jay Vetter
Rev. Robert Rhodes
A parish covenant has been developed by a special
committee and will be presented to the All Church Conferences of each congregation
for approval.
