Let’s plan that October 24th is remembered as a winning day—both for the Husker football team and Trinity UMC! The Husker opening game is at 11 am. The win for Trinity comes in the form of donating more pounds of food to the Salvation Army Food Pantry than the Presbyterian Church.
Please plan to bring your gift to the Salvation Army right after the game, between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. The Salvation Army is located at West 3rd Street, Grand Island, NE 68801. It will be weighed by the Salvation Army staff and a winner will be declared. If you prefer a monetary donation, one dollar will count as one pound of food. If you can’t take your donation on Saturday the 24th, you will have until Wednesday, October 28th to get it there. Just be sure to tell them it is from Trinity UMC for the food pantry blitz. Remember, October 24th, GO BIG RED and GO GRACIOUS TRINITY!!!
Drive through our not-so-scary Halloween parade with your family. Kids 12 and under receive a bag of treats at the end. Please reserve a ticket for each child so we know how many bags to make! To reserve a ticket, email Christina at Familyministry@trinityumcgi.org
The event begins at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28 and ends at 8 p.m. We are located at 511 North Elm Street in Grand Island, NE.
If you’d like to send us a picture of your loved one, even if they were not a member at Trinity, we would be happy to include them in the PowerPoint presentation and honor them. Please mail a picture of your loved one with their name to 511 North Elm Street, GI NE 68801. You can also email a digital copy to firstname.lastname@example.org
Please send pictures to the office by Monday, October 26.
COVID-19 UPDATE: The target date to reopen for in-person worship service is Sunday, November 1. We will continue to have one worship service at 10 a.m.—both in-person and online.
At the Administrative Council meeting on Thursday, September 17, our church leadership decided to begin in-person worship on Sunday, November 1. Part of the discussion was that it could be a very long time before our original criteria of waiting til’ our area goes two weeks without a new case came to pass. We added the amendment that if our area Health Department Risk Factor rises above the number two and we go back to Orange level, we will return to no in-person worship. Right now, we are at Risk Factor 1.7. We continue to emphasize that “Safety First” is our main concern.
This will be the first stepping stone toward opening up completely at a later date. We will start with one Sunday morning worship at 10 a.m. that will be simultaneously live-streamed on our Trinity UMC Facebook page. Decisions about when to open up to in-person Sunday School, meetings, and other events will come at a later time.
For in-person worship, here’s an idea of what the procedures will be as recommended by the CDC and our Great Plains Conference of the United Methodist Church:

Mark your calendar for TRINITY UNITED. What is TRINITY UNITED? It’s 5th Sunday worship! Many people of our congregation greatly enjoy when we have a combined worship service like we do with Praise on the Plaza and on Consecration Sunday. It’s a special time to interact with Trinity people who happen to go to a different worship service than you do. To help us be truly UNITED, we will be using the uniqueness of a fifth Sunday throughout the year for combined worship at 10 a.m. All are WELCOME!
