When you are young, you hear people saying Church Family, but you don’t understand what that means. I have grown up in this church since day one, and I’m not saying how many years that is! I was baptized, attended Sunday School and youth group, was married, and raised our children in this church. Jeff was raised Lutheran, and when we started to have kids, we talked about where we wanted to raise our kids. He wanted to continue with our church because of the way people treat each other. It was a few years ago that I really understood the true meaning of Church Family. I started helping with Loaves and Fish, and that is when I began to look back at my younger years, realizing who made an impact in my life in a Christian way. Start with Rev Doran, who married us on a Nebraska game day. I’m glad they made it down to Gollaher in time. Rev Wheat, Lonnie, Jay, Nancy, Onamae, Del, Matt, Geoffrey, Anny, Kelly. I know there are many more that have walked amongst our church. Then to the volunteers in my youth. The Gleasons that showed and helped us understand the bible as 3rd graders, I still have my. Jan C, Miller’s, Grant and Pam H, Connie S, etc. As we get older, we come across many people who have affected us in how they act. Deb B, Carol G, Marge T, McDermott’s, Susan & Rob, Watkin’s, Grave’s, Freeman’s, White’s, Horky’s, Sebrina, Loraine, Vicky S. I know I am going to miss someone, I do apologize. I know my Church Family is amazing. The main person in my life who really showed me how to walk as a Christian was my grandmother, Anne Allen. She was an angel who guided her grandkids; she was involved and showed us how Christians should be and act. I can’t leave my parents out, who ensured we were present and involved. I want to leave you with the question: what is a church family to you? I have an amazing one, and hopefully, the kids we have worked with in youth and Sunday school will someday see the same thing. Thank you to each of you for being the best United Methodist Church! -Tanya (Ballard) Roscoe
