An introduction of our guest preacher today from our Prairie Rivers District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Charles Murithi: “Rev. Dr. Nicholas Mutwiri Nteere is one of the Synod Bishops of the Methodist Church in Kenya. Currently Bishop Nicholas Mutwiri is serving Kaaga Synod. Methodist Church in Kenya has many synods hence several synod bishops. The mission area of the Methodist church in Kenya covers Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, and some part of Ethiopia as well as Somali. This whole region is under one presiding bishop (Isaiah Deye) elected by the annual conference (Synod bishops are also elected by the annual conference for 4 years term which can be extended to another 4 years). Bishop Nicholas grew up in Meru area which is on the eastern slops of the Mt. Kenya. The climate of Meru is good and therefore people grow crops like corn, beans, potatoes, bananas, sugar cane, coffee, tea and many more. The area enjoys two rainy season. Bishop Nicholas did his undergraduate  in Theology, a Master’s degree in Mission studies and a PhD in Religious studies all at the Kenya Methodist University (KeMU). He is currently enrolled in Diploma in Leadership in Cambridge University in collaboration with KeMU. Bishop Nicholas has served in different settings, rural and urban. He started as an evangelist to a circuit minister and then to a senior pastor in one of the largest congregations in the conference. He was instrumental to their capital campaign that he helped them raise enough money to build a new sanctuary as well as the education wing. He serves in different committee of the conference as well as in other external organizations. Bishop Nicholas is a family man married to Dorothy G. Mutwiri and have a beautiful girl by the name Favour M. Mutwiri. Bishop Nicholas is a church planter which he has done whenever he has been appointed. His dream now and that of his synod is to build An Integrated Pastoral Center in his Synod where clergy, lay and youth would gather for prayers, leadership trainings, youth mentorship and coaching, and a place for elderly too. This is a dream he is sharing whenever he has an opportunity. Thank you to the Senior Pastor Rev. Kelly Karges and for his leadership for allowing Bishop Nicholas to share the message on the Memorial weekend.”
