SMALL THINGS CAN BRIGHTEN A DAY! How true this statement is. A few weeks ago I mentioned a need for blankets, just in case someone was in need. I received some blankets in the office and have had the opportunity to hand 2 out already. The day was brightened to those I have given them too (Thank you to those who dropped off blankets). I decided it would be good to have one in my trunk for I tend to run into people in need out in the community at times. A while back as I was driving home from the Church, I saw a man huddled at a park on the way home. Many times I have seen homeless people gathered in this park area and I have seen this older man at the church at times. I decided to see if he was in need of a blanket. I walked to the older gentleman and told him who I am and asked him if he could use a blanket as it was cold outside. Tears filled his eyes, he was so grateful to receive such a small item as a blanket. This small little thing brightened this man’s day, and it also brightened my day. I have seen him a few times since and he has told me thank you each time I have seen him. There are so many people in Grand Island that could benefit with just a small little thing to lift their spirits. A blanket, a warm meal, a kind hello just to name a few ideas. I want to encourage all of you to keep your eyes open to who you might be able to encourage.
