Did you ever notice how many Bible stories include a feast? One thing that people of all ages and cultures, in all times and places have in common is eating and drinking. Just like the people in the Bible, we celebrate life by getting together and enjoying food and drink. The most important feasts we learn about in the Bible are Passover and the Lord’s Supper, which today we call Holy Communion. You might think that Passover is only for Jewish people and has nothing to do with us Christians, but you would be wrong. Christina is hosting a special three-part class that explores the connections between Passover and Communion. God’s Family Around the Table will be held on Sundays, March 30, April 6, and April 13 at 10:30 a.m. in Miller Hall. This class is designed for elementary children and their families, but any young-at-heart person will enjoy the hands-on activities. It is best to come to all three classes, but if you can make two, go ahead and sign up! Please RSVP to Christina or the church office.
• Sunday, March 30: God’s Love Frees – The Passover Story. Travel to Egypt to see the Israelites in slavery and discover how God brought about the Exodus. Learn about the traditional Passover foods and taste them!
• Sunday, April 6: God’s Love Remembered – The Last Supper. Be a disciple celebrating Passover with Jesus just before his arrest. Participate in foot washing!
• Sunday, April 13: God’s Love Today – Holy Communion. Discuss how today’s church celebrates communion. Participate in different styles of communion using all kinds of bread!
