“Who plants a seed beneath the sod and waits to see…believes in God.” Author Unknown – 1924 Poem The goal for Stolley Park Garden is many-faceted. In addition to providing areas of interest for garden visitors of all ages, along with the many benefits of enjoying nature. . .we believe at the top of the list should be the ability to do all of that while having the opportunity to amass a greater appreciation of Grand Island and Grand Island history. Stolley Park Garden – Destination Garden – A place to nurture our soul. A garden that is on its way to becoming a serenity garden. . . a place to sit and reflect on nature, the plants and the trees, but also a place to enjoy a piece of art either as something just to enjoy or something which can be meditated upon; a place with signage highlighting our earliest settlers and their struggles overcome, the hardships they conquered, and their ingenuity that helped to pave the way for life as we now know it; a place with a little library where you can take a break and read one of our books to your child, your grandchild, or yourself. This is your chance to hear the voices of our earliest settlers, the Native Americans; of pioneer families who moved west; of gardeners and scientists; of builders and survivors; of dreamers and explorers. . to read is to discover new knowledge, to voyage into another time, or to open doors to another world. A visit to the Stolley Park Garden is not a visit to a place – it’s a journey. Come, enjoy this journey!
