December is right around the corner and I love that Trinity will be a busy place. Baskets of Love has been a tradition for many years. There are a couple of changes this year. First, the proceeds have gone to AIDS relief in the past. This year your gifts will go towards the cost of our new roof on the sanctuary. The second change is that there is a $3 minimum bid increase. Watch for lots of fun baskets to be displayed and open for bidding beginning the weekend of December 7. Bidding will end at 11 AM on December 14th. Please support this ministry by putting together a basket to donate. The donated baskets need to be to the church by 4:30 PM on Thursday Dec. 4th. Another BIG event is the reinstatement of the live Nativity and soup supper to be held at Fonner on December 7th from 5-7 PM. There will be two kinds of soup offered, chicken noodle and chili, for a free will donation. We need cookie donations and people to sign up to be in the nativity along with some sheep and a miniature donkey. And—on Dec. 7 during worship each of you will receive a special gift courtesy of the Healthy Congregations Grant committee. If those three events aren’t enough, Dec, 13th will be our stargazing and caroling party beginning at 7 pm. That same day, Loaves and Fishes food distribution will take place at college park beginning at 9:30 am. Let’s keep moving through the month, on Dec. 21, Rev. April will host her annual open house. The children from our church will put on their Christmas Program during worship on Dec. 21 also followed by a birthday party for Jesus. Come see what these children have in store for us. Christmas Eve services will take place at 5, 8, and 10 PM on the 24th! Our crochet group has a special gift to offer each person that evening. Add all these wonderful events on top of our regular happenings of Mathetes Bible Study, Wednesday night meals, Empowering Women, Telling Your Life Story, WaySeekers, circle meetings including a Christmas Tea, choir rehearsals and performances, children’s ministries, keeping food in our little food box, helping families at Howard school with Christmas gifts, Senior Wii bowling, crocheting, coloring at the Chocolate bar, Plarn weaving. Oh yes, one last thing, Advent begins Nov. 30th, wear your stars that day! I feel incredibly blessed to be a part of such a wonderful dynamic congregation!
