I have often filled the void of an acolyte during
services and carried in the light of Christ for worship
and back out into the world at the end of the service. I
cannot count the number of times I am gently teased
about that fact! It is quite often implied it is not my
responsibility or someone believes they are coming to
my rescue by taking over just before I proceed. This
always puzzled me. I see it as a privilege and honor to
carry the light of Christ anywhere and everywhere in
whatever context!
Rev. April shared with us on Christmas Eve to
"remember the light needs to continue to shine
through you. Through words, through deeds, and
through how you live your life for others." Being light
bearers is about fostering a vibrant community that
reflects God's light to transform the world around
them. We are called to be the light of Christ in the
world by reflecting His love, grace, and truth in our
actions and interactions. We are to be a source of
hope, kindness, and truth illuminating the darkness
around us.
As we step into 2026, I invite us to reflect on Christ's
light within us! Asking ourselves, "Can anyone see
Christ in me?"
Let your Light Since!
